What it simulates

  • Per-hue saturation BOOSTS — greens ×1.15, blues ×1.18
  • Hue shifts across all colour anchors
  • Firm S-curve
  • Firm shoulder
  • Ultra-fine grain (0.06)
  • No halation, no vintage-glow — vividness is the character
  • Nature scene variation replaces the Indoor slot

How it behaves at capture

  • Photo mode
  • Live in the viewfinder, baked at capture
  • Per-hue saturation boosts respond to scene colours differently

What VERDE 50 is

VERDE 50 is vivid slide-film character. Greens pop. Blues deepen. Skies read as intense. The look works because it's per-hue, not global — a naive saturation boost blows warm skin tones out, but VERDE 50's per-hue math targets the colours that slide film naturally exaggerates while leaving skin tones controlled.

How to shoot with VERDE 50

  • Landscape, nature, sky, and blue-hour scenes — VERDE 50's per-hue boosts are tuned for exactly this content.
  • Not the right pick for portraits (use MORNING 01) or muted / faded aesthetics (use FADE-200).
  • Nature scene variation is the killer app — use it for parks, forests, mountain scenes, coastlines.

See also FADE-200 (muted per-hue, opposite direction) and NOCT-800 (tungsten night).

Frequently asked questions

Is VERDE 50 a Velvia simulation?

VERDE 50 is slide-film-adjacent — the character (greens boost, blues boost, firm S-curve, minimal grain, no halation) is in the Velvia family. Not a direct emulation of a specific Fujifilm stock; a modelled character in the same neighbourhood.

Why is the grain so fine?

Because slide film has fine grain. Real ISO 50 slide stocks like Velvia 50 are famously fine-grained. VERDE 50 reflects that at 0.06 — barely visible in normal use, present in shadow detail.
